5 months old

 Today, on this record HOT day, sweet Evelyn is 5 months old!  She has done so much new stuff this past month: loves baby food, splashes, jumps, sucks on her toes, tries to spit/blow bubbles and has 

learned the fun game of dropping toys!

Despite an ear infection this week, Evelyn has come up with some new tricks! She has begun to jump in her jumperoo, splash like crazy in the bath and at the pool, and she has finally found her toes!

Nine Years of Marriage

    Today is our 9th wedding anniversary!

  Our anniversary falls two days after my birthday so we always combine the two and go out!  Needless to say, it has been a fun week having the birthday too!  I got an Ipad so that has been my new play toy this week! ;-)

     On my birthday, Josh and the girls went out and brought me back a bagel (candle and all!).  It was a pretty normal day except about 10 of my friends took me to Nobles for lunch. It was so fun and we all decided that we need to go out to lunch more often!  That evening was spent at a 5 hour swim meet....not exactly how I would have chosen to spend my birthday night, but I enjoyed being with friends and watching my girls swim!

     Josh and I went out last night to a new restaurant here in W-S called Spring House. It has the neatest atmosphere and the food was delicious.  

It is always special to have an evening out with just the two of us.

Funnies

Time for a few funny sayings:

- As we rode down the road the other day Lucy and I were listening to her new favorite song 'Payphone'....she then proceeded to ask, 'Mom, what IS a pay phone?'....gosh, that made me feel old!

-As I was cooking dinner one night, Alice was playing with Evelyn and she said, 'Who is the cutest baby in our family? Thats right, its you Evelyn!'  Alice then looked at me and said, 'Mom, guess who the cutest baby in the whole wide world is?'  I'm thinking, 'this is so sweet, she is thinking about her sister' so I guessed, "evelyn!?"....and Alice quickly replied, 'No Mom, Baby Jesus is the cutest baby in the whole wide world!'   ha!

-As I put on my bathing suit yesterday to go to the pool, Alice walked in and said, 'Mom, you need to put more bosoms in your bra'......great........

-Lucy returned from a play date at her friend/boyfriend Will's house the other day and when I asked her if she had fun she replied 'Yes, I beat him to the bone'......I highly doubt she will be invited back! ;-)

-Alice came downstairs this afternoon and said, "Mom, I just made my bed, turned off my sound machine  and put my shoes in the basket, can I get $10 now?'   hhhmmmm no!

-Our swim team won their past meet and Alice swam in 3 events.  Miraculously, she was not disqualified in the backstroke race, which is a feat for her (she just turned 5)!  When it was over, she told me in the car that the reason her team won was b/c she did backstroke!  ha!

-Alice was coming home from a play date on Friday when she told her friend Corrine that her Daddy would be at home when they got there....she asked her friend if she had met her dad and said, 'my Dad is real pretty'! ;-)

You are probably wondering what in the world my title implies but it is the name of the fun music camp that Alice attended this week!
Lucy went a few years ago and still sings the songs she learned so it was Alice's turn this year! Below are some pictures from her end of camp 'sing'! Evelyn really loved the drums and bounced along as well!

One of those days.....

     Sigh...today has been one of those days....even though sweet Josh got up with the baby at 4:40 this am, I feel like I have failed at being a mom today.  Ever have those days? Lucy woke up not feeling well so no swim practice but alice wanted to go BUT baby was asleep....then Lucy wanted to cuddle but the baby has been very whiny and demanding so I can't give lucy any attention b/c I'm too busy changing diapers, fixing bottles, cleaning up tons of spit up, etc........then there is Alice who is playing independently thank goodness! I have to run out to CVS b/c we are out of the baby's acid reflux medicine only to get there and to find out its not ready and there is an insurance discrepancy! agh!


     We then meet my friend Melissa at the playground where I am about to lose it b/c I can't figure out this fancy stroller my friend let me borrow then alice quirts her juice box all over me and I finally just have to laugh...Melissa laughed too! AGH.....as I have said before: the days are long but the years are short......
Sadly, I can't wait to go play golf with my husband and friends tonight but feel bad for leaving all 3 kids with a sitter....I can't win!
Lets hope the day goes up from here! I know it could be worse......I hope you all have a wonderful weekend...the weather here is absolutely perfect!!!

My Little Helper

Good morning! 
     Since Evelyn was born, my 7 1/2 year old Lucy has been such a huge help.  While they both love their sister, Lucy is able to really help me out.  She takes her outside to swing, 'dances' with her, changes her diaper (as long as it is only wet), grabs me burp cloths, sings to her in car, etc.  The other night, she even put Alice to bed for me.  Alice tried her hardest to work Lucy for more books, but Lucy stood her ground and got her to sleep.  Yesterday, Lucy even put Evelyn down for a nap then held her while I took a shower.  These little things are such huge help and she has been the best big sister!  I heard her tell Evelyn yesterday that she couldn't wait to teach her how to swim, read and dance.  It was so sweet and I know Lucy will be a good role model for Evelyn and Alice!

As I have said in the past, I'm not very good in the world of blogging.  I currently create my blogs on iWeb on my computer and it posts my new posts to a mobile me website but as of June 30, mobile me is gone so I 'think' I need a new blog address so here it is!  www.neelongirls.blogspot.com
