Williamsburg!

This past weekend, we had our own 'winter break' and took the older two to Williamsburg. First, on Friday we went to Ahoskie to stay with my parents who were going to  keep Evelyn for us.  My niece's 6th birthday was the next weekend so we had a mini-birthday party for her! The girls had so much fun! The car ride there was our best car ride ever as a family of five! Evelyn is facing forwards (little early but there was no way we were making it until she was 2 yrs old) and she was SO happy the ENTIRE ride! She would just sit back there and talk to herself and look out the window! whew!  Josh didn't feel that great so he slept some....

On Saturday morning, we left Evelyn in Ahoskie and headed to Williamsburg which was only 2 hours away. The girls loved crossing the long Monitor Merrimac Bridge and then really thought the tunnel part was cool! All of the ships were a bonus too!  We went to the visitors center and learned some facts about Williamsburg....we then headed downtown in rain and walked around the historic parts...we had a yummy lunch at the Kings Arm.....

This trip came about b/c Josh and his dad wanted to run the Colonial Half Marathon.  I decided to do the 5K but never really got around to running or 'training' for it.  BUT i'm happy to report that I did the whole thing WITHOUT stopping or walking...that is major for me b/c I have only been walking lately to exercise! It has 'kick started' me to start running more so we will see! I did the 5K in just under 34 minutes so there is work to be done!  Josh and his dad 'survived' the boring and hilly half......Lucy was supposed to do the kids fun run but didn't quite make it to the starting line on time...she was very disappointed but got over it quickly!
When planning this trip, we decided to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge there so there was always PLENTY to do! We even visited the Williamsburg Premium Outlets!

All in all, we had a GREAT weekend away! My poor parents came down with the dreaded stomach bug late Sunday so we had to leave earlier on Monday than planned to get Evelyn- I felt so sorry for them but they have recovered! Evelyn had a great time at their house chasing around their two new kittens!

I had to wake everyone up this morning for school b/c they were so exhausted from the big weekend!  Hope you had a good one!
