Cherry Grove 2012

Hello again! We are back from our vacation with Josh's parents at their place in Cherry Grove, SC aka North Myrtle Beach.  We stayed in their rental cottage across from the beach while Evelyn stayed with them in their house back on the inlet.  We had a wonderful vacation! Evelyn began sleeping through the night before we left and kept it up while we were away.  Many thanks to my mother-in-law for keeping her so much so we could sleep in a little, go out in the heat and have fun!

Evelyn loved the beach as well as her sisters.  Lucy likes the beach, but Alice is a mermaid! She would not get out of the ocean unless we made her!  A few afternoons, we had some great tidal pools and they were perfect for Evelyn...she loves the water and sand! She would even nap out there which was great!
We actually came back on Tuesday for the night for the girls swim meet- it was a quick trip but glad we came. Lucy's sweet Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher came to the meet so she was so excited about that!
We came back on Wednesday to enjoy some more sun and fun. Now that the kids are older we have started doing some of the many 'touristy' things that Myrtle Beach has to offer!  Thursday night, we went to the Pirates Voyage dinner theater show! It was a great time with wonderful sights and pretty good food!

The next day, we finally went to the water park Myrtle Waves! The girls had a great time and enjoyed their first 'big' water slides!

Josh and Alice on the 'monster' slide according to her!

On our last night, good friends Cindy and Phyllis came over to eat dinner with us! They even took some family photos for us!

We are back home now and I have piles of laundry staring at me!  Night!

alice and my iPad

I let Alice have my iPad for like 10 minutes the other day and below is just a sampling of the fun she had....and, no, she does not have a black eye- she is fond of purple eye shadow at the moment!

Independence Day

Yesterday, as many Americans did, we celebrated our nations birthday!  Lucy looked at our calendar in the kitchen yesterday and asked why it said Independence Day and not July 4th? ha! After a brief history lesson, we began our day!  Getting all 5 of us ready for the pool is a labor of love for sure!

We spent the afternoon at the pool playing pool games- Alice was especially pumped to get a Dr. Pepper in the soda dive and a quarter in the money dive!

Evelyn was a trooper at the hot pool.....

I always aim for a family photo on the 4th- thanks Kiera!

after debating, we decided to take evelyn with us to watch the fireworks which are 2+ hours past her bedtime...despite being VERY tired, she hung in there and actually loved all the sparkles!

.....and it's only 5 o'clock

So, Josh is traveling with his new job so we 4 girls are hanging out.  Evelyn took a good nap this afternoon and the other two were eagerly awaiting her to wake up!  This is the greeting she received when she got up! (approx. time of 2:30)     ps. notice Alice's lipstick......(make up round 1)

Alice had her 5 yr old check up this morning with 4 shots :-(    She was very brave but definitely cried- it was so pitiful!  Her tokens from the nurse and a trip to Toys R Us made her feel better for sure! She is my little shrimp- only weighs 36lbs (25th percentile in weight) and is only in the 10th percentile for height! ;-)
After  E's nap time we were going to the pool but it was closed due to a pipe issue so we set Evelyn up in her baby pool outside despite the mosquitoes!
Meanwhile, I go look for Alice as I hadn't seen her in a while.  I found her into make up round 2......but round 2 went awry, quickly........this was promptly followed by a bath that involved major facial scrubbing....I hope she learned her lesson...........AND it's only 5pm.........I may need a cocktail sooner than thought!  help!
