'word'

Alice has been attempting to rap some of her bed time stories....lately it has been 'Ilama Ilama Red Pajama'.....

A sad weekend....

Even though I do not know one single person in Newtown, my heart and mind has been in that town since Friday morning.  I could not wait for my two to get home from school Friday afternoon just so I could see their smiles, hear their laughter and put my arms around them.  I explained in a matter of words what had transpired earlier that day to them as they had a snack.  It really hit home to me as Alice is a Kindergartener and at the time they thought it was a Kindergarten class.  After I gently told them the story, Alice looked at me with her big brown eyes and said, "Why would anyone hurt a little kindergartener like me?".  How do you answer that? As the weekend went on, the girls saw some of the news and asked a few questions.  On Saturday morning it was Alice's turn on the Advent Calendar and she picked out the school house for that day and told me it was for 'the little kids who just went to heaven"......talk about break your heart!  Then again, this morning on her turn- she picked out the bell to represent the bell that rings at school.....it has not left her mind like many Americans.....

Last night while in the bathtub.....Lucy started to ask some harder questions....like 'why would someone hurt little innocent children?' , 'why did he have so many guns?', 'why would he kill his mom?'.......and I did my best to answer those.  She seemed ok when the conversation was over.

Kids are so resilient.  NOT ONCE, did my kids seemed scared to go back to school today... If anything, they couldn't wait to see their teachers and friends.

Several posts on Facebook have 'spoken' to me:

but at the end of the day.......this is what warms my heart.......

Lovin' some Santa!

This past weekend, Evelyn met Santa for the first time!  She inspected him at first, then just smiled and smiled! We let her down to crawl around and 3 different time she crawled back in the room where Santa was just to check him out again!

My mom and dad were in town for the weekend and we had a nice visit!  After church, we saw Santa then headed to the Nutcracker- an annual tradition!!!

Basketball debut!

This past weekend was a fun-filled weekend of holiday activities!  Saturday started with the beginning of Y basketball season! Alice made her basketball 'debut'! She was by far the smallest player on the court but where her height may have lacked- her spirit certainly did not! She dribbled pranced down the court then passed off the ball!  She said it was so much fun!  Lucy's team, the Dribblin' Divas started their season and did very well!  They all played together last year so this year is going to be even more fun!

(Alice has on the pink shirt/white jersey)

Evelyn is even ready for b'ball season!
